Swindon Council voted as a top 3 finalist at the DL100 awards

By Methods4 November 2021

We are thrilled that Swindon Borough Council have been publicly voted into the top 3 at the Digital Leaders 100 awards for the second year in a row! Nominated for ‘Public Service Innovation of the Year’ for the work they did creating a ‘Smart Entry’ in response to the extra pressure and increasing costs on their Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) brought about during the pandemic.

Swindon continue to raise the bar when it comes to looking at ways to improve public services for its citizens, and they always share their work via the local digital declaration, so all local authorities can benefit. The speed at which they go from problem, to concept, to viable working product is impressive – this particular project covered 400 tasks in just 4 months! You can read more about it here.

This piece of work has made significant impact – from 4 hour queues to just a click of a button and a scan of a code! Resident feedback after go live saw 98.6% rating their booking experience as ‘easy’ or ‘very easy’! A low-cost, high-impact and resilient solution for Swindon residents.

The awards are being held on the 11th November in London where the finalist will be announced.
