Launching Met-Vets Community to support Armed Forces personnel and families

By Methods20 February 2024

As part of our ongoing support for Methods’ growing Armed Forces community, we are announcing the launch of our latest Community of Interest (CoI) – ‘Met-Vets‘! This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive support network for veterans, current serving reservists, and their families within the Methods community.

The Met-Vets CoI aims to:

  • Provide a space where members can connect with like-minded individuals who share similar experiences.
  • Foster a sense of camaraderie and understanding, providing support and guidance to veterans and their families, especially during the deployment process.
  • Serve as an educational resource for our colleagues who may have limited understanding of the unique culture and challenges faced by veterans. Raising awareness and promoting understanding to create a more inclusive and supportive work environment for all our employees.
  • Review and improve our onboarding process for veterans, tailoring the process to ensure it covers the needs of veterans who may be struggling to transition. For example, during the interview stages, our ex-military colleagues can support and assist with the interview to ensure clarity of a role, and help to overcome the feeling of “imposter syndrome” that we often hear during the transition into civilian life.
  • Leverage the expertise of veterans as we undertake military work, bridging the gap between the corporate and military, thereby enhancing collaboration and understanding.
  • Support military charities and actively seek opportunities to contribute to such organisations.

The launch of the Met-Vets community underscores our dedication to fostering inclusivity, support, and understanding within our workforce. By providing a platform for veterans and their families to connect, seek assistance, and contribute to meaningful projects, we look to affirm our status as an employer of choice for armed forces personnel transitioning into civilian life.
