During Pride month, people across society come together in love and friendship and pay tribute to everyone who has helped make history – all 1.5M LGBTQ+ people who are living in England and Wales today. And we know this figure because for the first time LGBTQ+ people were officially counted as part of the 2021 Census (double monumental moment as it was also the first digital census ever!) For this community this was a truly historic moment as after years of invisibility, they are now officially part of our country’s story.
