Ada Lovelace is recognised as the first computer programmer when she wrote the program for Charles Babbage’s mechanical computer, “The Analytical Engine”, published in 1843. A woman greatly ahead of her time.
Today is an International day to celebrate those achievements of Ada, and of all the women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) that have come since, whilst encouraging more girls into careers in STEM.
