From policy to practice: implementing SDGs in Defra’s NCEA programme

By Suzanne Maxted15 July 20241 min read

We’re pleased to share how Methods is helping revolutionise Defra’s approach to ecosystem conservation using the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs were published in 2015 and are a recognised policy framework. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) commits to SDG Goals 14 and 15. This approach focuses on safeguarding both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, marking a critical step towards global sustainability.

Leveraging Methods’ cutting-edge SDG Impact Transparency service, we seamlessly analysed the NCEA programme against the 17 SDGs in order to enhance Defra’s environmental initiatives and transform how we measure and achieve environmental impact.

This ground-breaking approach is setting a new standard for sustainability initiatives.

We’re proud to support Defra in this visionary endeavour, marking a critical step towards global sustainability.
