Hello. We’re Ben and Jennifer (or ‘Bennifer’ as we are known here at Methods). We’re part of an expanding team with experience across the public and private sectors in conducting a wide range of research.

Methods works with a lot of different clients in central and local government who want to build great digital services. What’s the most important part of that? Their users – so says the Government Digital Service and so say all (I hope!) of us. Without knowing about your user, it’s far harder to design services that fit their needs.

Reflecting the Digital Service Standards set down by GDS, Methods now has its own user research function working as part of the wider ‘Service Design’ team. Our mission? To create bespoke, robust research solutions that puts the user at the heart of a service’s development; to make sure this is communicated in a way teams can understand and which suits the way they work.

For your benefit, we’ve put together this presentation below covering what research is, why do we do it, how do we do it and how we communicate it. We believe as a team and a company that the voice of the user is integral – essential – in creating effective digital solutions. And that we’re therefore indispensable. But we would say that, wouldn’t we?
