HM Land Registry (HMLR) has selected to partner with Methods utilising the enterprise software firm R3’s blockchain platform, Corda, for the second phase of its ground-breaking research and development project Digital Street.

Digital Street is a ground-breaking research and development project which aims to engage the industry to understand how blockchain and distributed ledger technology may revolutionise the land registration and property buy-sell process, making it easier, faster and more transparent.

Over the next 12 months, Digital Street plan to explore:

  1. How smart contracts can enable interactions with the land register (such as changing the ownership).
  2. How identity can be checked once and shared securely across the buy-and-sell process.
  3. The benefits, and possible applications, of blockchain/distributed ledger technology for land registration.

HMLR have awarded the contract to Methods, the leading digital transformation partner for the UK public sector, supported by a team of global experts from R3 and their wider partner including Blockchain Digital and Persistent Systems.

Further information will be made available via a formal press release and blog in the coming weeks.
